Don't Need No Stinkin' Man!

For MONTHS my Husband has said he was going to replace the tubes in the tires of our daughter's bicycle. She's had the thing 2 years and has never really been able to ride it because the tired wouldn't stay inflated. When the summer started he said he was going to do it.... but now it's August and he never did.

About a week ago, I brought the bike up from the basement so that it could be worked on. With my Husband gone, my neighbor offered to help. He managed to take the front tire off but decided to leave the back tire on until we actually had the tubes. Before the week was out, I had gone and picked up 2 tubes for 2 tires. It was mentioned on Friday. It was briefly brought up on Saturday. Today is Sunday and while I love to walk around the lake this time of year (and had plans with other like-minded people and their dogs) my daughter hates it because she can't keep up. She's tried using her scooter and that just didn't go so well (not even half way around, she gave up and I had to lug her scooter and two dogs another 2.5 miles around the 3 mile lake).

So this afternoon, I boogied down. I found all the socket wrenches, wrenches, and screw drivers I thought I'd need (and then some) and got down to business. I started by putting the new tube inside the front tire that had already been removed. Setting about my work, I got into the zone by the time the back tire was off. Intricate of a task, I managed to get everything back on exactly as it was before. I even managed to get a chance to see if Baby Girl needed the seat adjusted. The tires are even on straight.

And there was not a man anywhere in the vicinity. I truly am wonder woman and I don't need no stinkin' man around to do things.

I just like having them ;-)
