So this evening we entered the realm of Kindergarten. Our darling baby girl got to meet several of the other children also attending Kindergarten at her school this year during a "Popsicle Playdate". Charming.
Darling Husband had a late day at work and arrived roughly an hour before this event began. To save on laundry and the hassle, he decided to stay in Uniform. Now, I get that the Navy's new Uniform is one that people don't recognize because of how new it is. That and most Navy Personnel do not wear their uniforms off base (because you used to not be able to and now it's because they're uglier than the toothless moo-moo wearing grannies in the trailer park).
As we're watching our DD play and making new friends and talking to their parents or parents we already knew, DH is standing back and taking it all in. The new Principle (not just new to us, but new as in this is her first year at this school) inches her way over towards our group (3 moms including myself and DH). Rather than approach the women, she singles out DH with a "Do you have a kid here?"
No lady, he doesn't. He's just standing in the most stand-out get up possible, staring at little children in the midst of all their parents, wondering how he can lure one of them away for his own sick pleasure. Come on! I mean, really?
My gracious Husband replies "Yes, my daughter and she's right over there". (He later told me his initial smart-ass desire was to say "We like to recruit them young"). I could tell he was a tad insulted, I certainly was and it wasn't even ME! But he smiled and nodded and answered her questions before walking away to assist our DD on the monkey bars.
I'm debating about what to think of her now. First impression and all.
